About Me

Thank you for visiting Knots-n-Knits!

As an avid crocheter, I spend many a night watching television or movies with my family with a yarn, hook, and pattern in my hands.  By nature, I am a multitasker and would never miss the opportunity to work on creating something while having to sit still!

My mom taught me to crochet when I was about 10 years old and my first projects were blankets for my sister and my Barbie dolls.  Over the years, I've moved to other needlework and fabric arts type projects and have taught myself to cross-stitch, quilt, and sew.  I recently took a class at my local Michael's to learn how to knit - something my mom taught me many years ago, but it didn't seem to stick.  It seems that when I need a gift for a friend or can no longer endure another movie with nothing to do, I pick up some yarn and a hook and begin crocheting.

Over this past year, my main projects have focused on making scarves with the intent to sell them as the holidays get closer.  I've enjoyed buying yarn and experimenting and challenging myself to try new stitches and styles.  I've REALLY enjoyed buying the yarn and have now self-imposed a "no yarn buying" mandate.  I simply have no more room!

My Knots-n-Knits blog is my attempt to document and showcase my projects - mostly crochet, but some sewing as well.  My end goal is to be able to open an online store, but for now, I am happy having fun "building my inventory" and will see what happens after the new year.

In my non-crafty life, I am a happily married to my best friend for the past 20+ years, have two boys ages 8 and 12, two dogs, a cat, and a Beta fish.  I work full-time training teachers on how to use technology in their professional lives and would rather be a stay-at-home crafting mom, but that doesn't pay the bills.  Over the past year, my husband and I have taken up running and have enjoyed doing a 15K in Hawaii and Disney's Wine and Dine Half Marathon in 2013.
